FEMORAL HERNIA REPAIR
This is a thin, elderly, very fit female who presented with complaints of discomfort in the right groin for 2 years. Physical examination and imaging were nondiagnostic, but the patient insisted that she felt “something” in her groin, pointing to just below the inguinal ligament. She agreed to robotic diagnostic laparoscopy and possible repair. Despite the normal appearance of the pelvic floor on initial inspection inspection, the peritoneum was opened to thoroughly evaluate the inguinal region. Upon further exploration, a moderately large femoral defect was noted with a normal-appearing lymph node (Cloquet’s node) present within the defect. The technique seen in the video demonstrates the CAVA best-practices instrument profile, which provides a streamlined method resulting in a high-quality, cost-effective repair for all groin hernias.
