2-Instrument Robotic Appendectomy
Performing a cost-effective robotic appendectomy can be achieved with the following recommendations:
- In most cases, 3 robotic arms are sufficient
- Utilizing only 2 instruments (the fenestrated bipolar grasper and the hook cautery) is feasible
- Securing the base of the appendix can be achieved with Clips or Endoloop ligature, or suturing as opposed to using a stapler
